COBI, the world-renowned brand specialising in high-quality building brick models, is proud to announce the launch of its latest commemorative model: Supermarine Spitfire N3200. This exceptional model is based on the iconic aircraft that assisted the evacuation of Dunkirk in May 1940. Spitfire N3200, piloted by Squadron Leader Geoffrey Stephenson, is now immortalised in stunning detail, bringing history and aviation to life for builders and enthusiasts alike.
Supermarine Spitfire N3200, built in 1939 at Southampton, was issued to No. 19 Squadron at RAF Duxford in April 1940. On May 26, 1940, as part of Operation Dynamo, the aircraft defended the evacuation of British and Allied troops from enemy aircraft over Dunkirk. During N3200’s first and only mission, Squadron Leader Stephenson led his squadron in a successful interception of enemy aircraft, shooting down a German Ju 87 Stuka dive-bomber before being shot down himself. His subsequent capture marked the end of the aircraft’s mission, though the story of the Spitfire and its pilot lives on.
Following its recovery from the sands of France in 1986, the Spitfire underwent extensive restoration before being donated to the Imperial War Museums (IWM) in 2015. N3200 is now a symbol of the bravery and resilience of those who fought during one of the most critical periods of World War II.
COBI's meticulously crafted model of the N3200 Spitfire allows fans of aviation and history to construct a detailed replica of this remarkable aircraft. Designed for both novice and experienced builders, the model features:
